Odisha Forest Guard Physical Test
A Physical Test is a part of the Odisha Forest Guard recruitment process to assess the physical capabilities of candidates. This evaluates the candidate’s walking endurance, height, chest measurement, and overall fitness. As a Forest Guard, required to undertake foot patrols, ensure forest protection, and operate under challenging conditions.
The Physical Test has two stages, Physical Standard Measurement (PSM) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

Physical Standard Measurement (PSM) – Height, Chest
In PSM, candidates’ height and chest measurements are taken. Candidates of both men and women have a minimum physical standard of chest & height. Anyone who fails to qualify for the Physical Standard Measurement Test will be eliminated from the recruitment process.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – Running
The Forest Guard Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is considered the most crucial stage of the recruitment process. The objective of this test is to assess the candidate’s fitness, stamina, running ability, and physical strength.
In PET, male candidates are required to complete a 25-kilometer walk within 4 hours, whereas female candidates must complete a 16-kilometer walk within 4 hours.

- My advice is to run daily, eat right, and get enough sleep; your stamina will increase automatically.
- Maintain a balanced diet, including proteins, fruits, and vegetables.
- Get adequate sleep, and allow your body to rest between training sessions.
- Rest for 1–2 days before the test, and avoid any kind of injury or illness.
- On the day of PET, warm up before your run, wear the right running shoes, and stay hydrated.
Written Examination Pattern
A written examination is conducted before the physical test. It assesses the candidate’s understanding of General Knowledge, Mathematics, English, Odia, and Computers.
The examination carries a total of 100 marks with 1.5 hr of duration. In the MCQ-based examination, each wrong answer carries a negative marking of 0.25 points.
